Waste Compactors
To augment our trim extraction systems, Process Systems Services now manufactures industrial compactors which are ideally suited to the waste / recycling industry.
Two models are available - the PSS Compactor Maxi and the PSS Compactor Mini.
PSS Compactor Maxi
This is a high volume, heavy duty compactor with a horizontal ram which compresses the product into standard industry bins (26 m3 to 32 m3). The Compactor Maxi is usually supplied without bins but these can be supplied extra to contract if required. An optional bin lifter can also be provided for emptying standard 600 litre bins. The bin lifter can be operated whilst the main extraction system continues to run. The PSS Compactor Maxi has an integral hydraulic pump set and is fully controlled by a PLC.
'Safety First' was the primary concern during the design stage and the comprehensive 'fail-safe' systems, mechanical interlocks, electrical interlocks and alarms ensures that the Compactor Maxi is one of the safest available in the industry. However, we have not traded safety for performance since the unit is also designed to meet the toughest operating conditions likely to be encountered.
The picture shows a COMPACTOR MAXI without bin in place (centre). This system has a bin lifter (inside the yellow cage), a rotary separator located over the top of the compactor together with a self-cleaning dust collector to filter the discharge air (left).

PSS Compactor Mini
The PSS Compactor Mini is designed for the compaction of waste material - usually paper or film - in a 600 L standard industry waste bin. The compactor is able to achieve a much higher compaction rate than that achievable by manual filling of the bins. A compaction ratio of 3:1 is average although higher or lower levels may result depending upon the nature or weight of the product. The Compactor Mini has two compaction heads which operate vertically into the bin on a cycle basis as waste material is dropped into the bin. Once a bin is loaded into the machine the start button is pressed and the process is fully automatic until the bin is full. At this point the machine goes into standby mode, both compaction heads are raised and an alarm sounds to indicate that the bin must be changed.
As with the Compactor Maxi, the Mini is also designed with safety in mind and it features many interlocks, safety switches and protection devices for the operator..
